Hypnotized...

My youngest daughter Annabelle and I often play a fun game..."look deep into my eye." This may not seem much fun until you find out, one of Anna's eye tends to wander a bit. So, to strengthen her eye muscle, we often do "exercises" that requires her eye to follow object or focus on things.  She always jokes, "Mommy you are hypnotizing me!" So, these cookies came to mind, with the swirls and all....here is to you my Anna, look deep into the...COOKIES.

In a Jam.

Raspberry or apricot. Jam that is, and the choice is difficult. I love them both. So, why not use them both. The base for these cookies are my grandmother's Linzer cookie recipe; a buttery soft, melt in your mouth soft cookie. I remember eating these on Sundays after lunch, or having them at my grandmother's on her birthday. They are so good! Enjoy!

Numbers and letters.

I told you about my nephew Nathan in England a little bit yesterday. I also have a niece in Poland, Natalia. Both babies were born around the same time and will be two years old in the summer of 2011.  I often get to see both kids thanks to Skype and I miss them a lot. With their upcoming birthdays, I began thinking about some cookies I can make them as treats and send as presents. These are just some ideas, I am sure they will further develop as the months go.

Plains, trains and.. motorcycles?

I have a nephew; actually I have 3 nephews, but 2 of them I haven't yet met. Nathan and Matthias leave in Europe (England and Poland to be exact) and my handsome nephew Dylan leaves in Memphis. He is an awesome little boy. Full of energy, cute as a button and you just want to pick him up and hug him all day. To which is very likely will say "Auntie Andi I am too old for your hugs!"  Dylan loves airplanes. Living in Memphis, which is the hub to FedEx, my sister and brother-in-law often take him to watch FedEx planes take off and land. Every time I visit, the first question I hear "so Auntie Andi, did you fly a jumbo jet here???" (From Iowa of course.) Thinking of Dylan I was inspired to make some transportation related cookies...plains, trains, spaceships and motorcycles.

HEART OBSESSED

I am setting out on a new mission to see how many different ways I can decorate a heart cookie!  Here are a few.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

It is difficult to feel warm and fuzzy inside, when all I see looking outside is snow, ice and frozen tree branches. Once I started making these cookies, it all began to change. What could be better than making cookies for those you love.
